Summary of Prior Work Experience

Prior to working as a CRM consultant, Joel spent a decade in sales, using a variety of CRM platforms.  This experience gave him an appreciation for how the design and configuration choices made in a CRM implementation can impact user adoption of the system, either positively or negatively.

Personal Philosophy

I love to learn and also to teach others.  Technology for technology sake doesn't change anyone's life - it is where that technology intersects with users and improves their lives that the technology has value. Sometimes people who know a certain skill are antagonistic to those who don't know that skill, but I've found that it is very rewarding to share what I know with others and see them grow.

What do you enjoy most about working with Microsoft Dynamics technology?

I enjoy the real impact that it has on our customers day-to-day jobs, making their jobs easier, giving them quick access to information that they need to do their jobs. It is especially fun to see a customer who has come from another CRM product and see how their eyes light up about how much easier it is with Dynamics CRM.

How does Microsoft Dynamics CRM improve your own performance?

CRM is central to what I do - it helps me keep up with the projects that I'm working on. Since I track my e-mails in CRM, if I need to find an e-mail from 6 months ago, I know I can find it. I love being able to access it from my phone too - yesterday I was away from my computer and I had to find a number for one of my clients - I was able to look up the number and dial from Mobile Express. CRM gives me what I need to do my job.

What is it about Hitachi Solutions that makes it a great place to work?

First thing is the people - some of the best and brightest people work at Hitachi Solutions (CE), and we all usually get along with each other. There isn't the office politics that exist at many other companies. The owners of the company respect us and give us the freedom to do our jobs, but are very approachable - they have an open door, and you can walk into their office whenever you need them.Second, our customers are fantastic - they love working with us, and it shows in our projects. I count many of them as not only clients, but friends.
